Thinking Hands
The publication 'Imaginings' by Kiki van Eijk serves as an exploration of the artist's body of work, highlighting her creative process through images, object descriptions, sketches, and preliminary studies. The design of the book embodies Van Eijk's artistic style, characterized by a poetic and personal touch, evident in the cover image's reflection of her sketches and collage-like designs. Having previously developed Kiki van Eijk's visual identity, we utilized a toolbox of abstract shapes and a bright color palette inspired by her designs as the foundation for the book's design. Each chapter is distinguished by a unique color scheme, enhancing the visual experience. The use of various uncoated paper types and linen binding adds layers and tactility to the publication, further immersing the reader in Van Eijk's artistic world.

‘Imaginings is a very dear and personal project for me. In fact it is about my life. That asks for a very sensorial, poetic, yet hands-on approach. Studio& is just the perfect fit for this, thanks to them you zoom in and out into my world of ideas.’
Kiki van Eijk

The middle section of the book, titled 'Where Kiki Creates,' replicates the appearance of Kiki's sketchbook. To authentically capture this essence, we asked Kiki to handwrite all the text in this chapter. The paper used in this section incorporates elements of wool, a material frequently utilized by the designer in her work, further enhancing the tactile and immersive experience of the book.
